 MEDAREX (MEDX)

 

    More and more firms are allying with Medarex to develop their dream products. The latest comr is Oxford Genome Sciences (UK) Ltd "OGeS". The firms announced that they have entered into a strategic collaboration to discover and develop new human antibody therapeutics for the treatment of cancers, including colorectal cancer. The collaboration combines OGeS' ability to discover novel targets for oncology with Medarex's expertise in the development of fully human antibody therapeutics. The collaboration provides for OGeS and Medarex to discover, develop and commercialize therapeutic antibodies on a 50:50 basis. Other financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

TLR AND RNAi Technologies

     RNAi and Toll-like receptor drug developer driug developers are followed up by Prohost. There are around six visible firms in this group. (Read Prohost publications). The following two members of the group announced news.  

 

ALNYLAM (ALNY)

 

     While reporting its consolidated financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2006, Alnylam, which is a pioneer in RNAi therapeutic technology, elaborated on its plans and progresses. Considerable progress seems to be made, including a significant increase in revenue due to R&D funding from our pharmaceutical alliances, which the firm expect to form the basis for continued and sustainable revenues over the next several years. The report revealed that the firm’s lead product, ALN-RSV01, which is an RNAi therapeutic for the treatment of RSV infection, was found safe and well tolerated in Phase I trials, setting the stage for further development of this program. It referred to signing another alliance with Novartis for pandemic flu – the firm’s  fifth major alliance to date. Other important scientific achievements have also been reported.

ANADYS (ANDS)  

     Anadys Pharmaceuticals reported its operational highlights and financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2006. Besides the finances (click on the link below), the firm mention the initiation of dosing of its product  ANA975, a Toll-Like Receptor-7 oral prodrug, in chronic hepatitis C virus patients in Phase Ib clinical trial.It confirmed good news that its product ANA380 has achieved viral load reduction in Lamivudine-Resistant hepatitis B patients in Phase II Clinical Trial.  The firm added news about new appointments of executive managers and scientists and more.
